Ivan Provedel has earned plaudits from far and wide following his historic 94th-minute equalizer against Atletico Madrid, with a decent premium in store for the Lazio shotstopper. Maurizio Sarri’s men were rescued at the death by the Italian, as he rose beyond the Rojiblancos’ defense to make it 1-1 in their UEFA Champions League opener.

As per Il Messaggero (via LaLazioSiamoNoi), the Biancocelesti management is impressed with Provedel and wants to hand him an increase in salary. He currently earns €1.2M, much less than his teammates, but could soon experience a hike to take himself up the payroll charts.

Claudio Lotito, in particular, wants to show the trust the club has placed in the goalkeeper, having signed the Udinese academy graduate from Spezia back in 2022. Lazio’s policy have so far denied them from increasing the wages of newly recruited players, but an exception is in the works. His contract expires in the summer of 2027.

Provedel was honored as the best goalkeeper last season by Lega Serie A. Serie B winner with Empoli, he made 45 appearances for Lazio, keeping 22 clean sheets in the process.

Our Take on the Provedel payrise

Having proven himself as one of Lazio’s most dependable players, Provedel has won praise for all the right reasons in recent times. The Aquile could very well make an exception this time.
