Lazio have reportedly contacted Venezia as they look to swoop for the services of their striker Joel Pohjanpalo. The Finland international currently leads the Serie B scoring charts with 19 goals from 27 outings.

The Biancocelesti are in the hunt for the new bomber, as Ciro Immobile’s form has been on the decline this season, raising questions over his future at the capital club, even though his agent revealed his intention to stay in Rome. Moreover, Taty Castellanos hasn’t truly set the Stadio Olimpico on fire following his arrival in the summer.

So according to Il Messaggero (via Lazio Space X account), Lazio have made significant contact with Venezia for Pohjanpalo who has been firing on all cylinders in Italy’s second tier. The Finnish striker started his career at HJK Helsinki before joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.

Following a series of loan spells in Germany, the 29-year-old signed for Venezia in the summer of 2022. He is tied to the Lagunari with a contract running until June 2027. The source believes he would cost Lazio circa 5 million euros.

Moreover, the report claims Igor Tudor’s assistant Ivan Javorcic was the one who recommended the signing of Pohjanpalo to the club. The 45-year-old Croatian served as Venezia’s head coach for a brief spell between June and October 2022, making him all-too-familiar with the Finland international.
