Lazio midfielder Matias Vecino will fly to Spain in the coming days to undergo medical checks on his knee.

The 31-year-old Uruguayan did not start in his last two outings for the Biancocelesti and has already been ruled out of tonight’s Serie A clash with Spezia, having missed training yesterday due to knee discomfort.

Vecino joined Lazio on a free transfer last summer and has proven himself a useful part of Maurizio Sarri’s squad, being a mature and tactically intelligent midfielder, adding some depth to the department.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Vecino will fly to Barcelona in the coming days in order to undergo a round of medical checks on his knee, which was operated on back in 2020 by well-known specialist Professor Ramon Cugat.

The 31-year-old Vecino has made 38 appearances across all competitions this season for the Biancocelesti, for a total of 1893 minutes. In that time, he’s scored four goals and provided one assist.
