Lazio claimed a crucial 3-2 win against relegation-threatened Frosinone on Saturday night to preserve their slim chances of securing European football. Summer signing Taty Castellanos emerged as Bianconcelesti’s hero after scoring twice off the bench to settle a goal-glutted contest at Stadio Benito Stirpe.

With their backs pushed against the wall after three consecutive Serie A defeats, Lazio had no margin for error against the division’s worst defensive team. But the game didn’t start well for Maurizio Sarri’s men as they fell behind after only 11 minutes before staging a much-needed comeback to pick up vital three points.

Castellanos might have failed to adapt to new surroundings, but tonight’s performance made Lazio ultras go wild on social media. The ex-Girona forward replaced underperforming captain Ciro Immobile early in the second half and tipped the scales in the visitors’ favor with his first touch of the match.

It took the 25-year-old only five minutes to complete his first Serie A brace, doubling his seasonal tally after only netting twice in his first 25 league appearances. Despite pulling one back through Walid Cheddira, Frosinone failed to avoid another defeat as Castellanos earned the ‘Man of The Match’ award.

After the game, Lazio fans took to social media to celebrate their hero. However, Immobile, out of favor with the Stadio Olimpico faithful, has faced heavy criticism over another bleak showing. As noticed by Calciomercato, disappointed supporters have targeted the veteran goal-getter on various social media platforms.

As things stand, Immobile’s career at Lazio is nearing its end.
