Lazio are finalising the details of the transfer of redundant goalkeeper Luis Maximiano to Rayo Vallecano, reports suggest.

The 24-year-old shot stopper’s career in the Italian capital was almost immediately derailed after he was shown a red card just six minutes into his debut.

Ivan Provedel took over as the number one and proved himself to be one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A, leaving Luis Maximiano with nothing but scraps.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Rayo Vallecano are interested in signing Luis Maximiano this summer and work is now ongoing to draw up a deal for the goalkeeper.

The 24-year-old could leave Rome on a loan deal with an €8 million buy option attached, giving him the chance to relaunch his career after a disastrous season in Italy.

Lazio are working on finding a new backup goalkeeper to complement Provedel, with one of the reported favourites being Sampdoria’s Emil Audero.
