Stefano Sensi didn’t move to Leicester City despite a month-long courtship and an agreement between the two clubs. The player had traveled to England on deadline day and passed the medicals, but the transfer collapsed for different reasons, Sky relays (via Goal).

The Championship outfit is navigating some Financial Fair Play restrictions. Moreover, there were some issues related to his work visa. The short time left to sort everything out didn’t help.

Sensi was set to replace former Inter prodigy Cesare Casadei at Leicester City, who was recalled by Chelsea earlier this month. He would have transferred on a free move but with a €2.5M bonus tied to the Foxes’ promotion, which is highly likely since they are top of the league with a ten-point cushion over second place.

The veteran would have inked a contract till June 2025. On top of the likely income, the Nerazzurri would have saved on his wages for the next six months. Instead, he’ll depart at the end of the campaign at the natural conclusion of his deal. Considering the daunting competition in their midfield, he has played just 65 minutes so far.

Sensi going to Leicester City would have allowed Inter to recoup a fraction of what they invested in him back in 2019. They acquired him for €25M from Sassuolo. After a positive start, he started suffering continuous muscular injuries and didn’t live up to expectations. The physical problems hampered his loan spells at Sampdoria and Monza too.
