Roberto De Zerbi could remain at Brighton despite having offers from several elite European sides. Similar to Xabi Alonso, another one of Liverpool’s top managerial targets could end up staying at his current club next season, ensuring their search for a new manager continues.

Liverpool Manager Search: Boss Not Guaranteed to Make Summer Switch

Liverpool Manager Search: Roberto De Zerbi

De Zerbi started his Premier League career after replacing Graham Potter at Brighton in 2022. Since then, his much-praised tactics have led the Seagulls to success while making him one of the most in-demand coaches in Europe. The Italian-born coach was described by Pep Guardiola as “so special and unique.

Bayern Munich, who are set to part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season, have been heavily linked with a move for De Zerbi in recent weeks.

The Italian manager has also stayed on Liverpool’s radar as a candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp. Elsewhere in the Premier League, Chelsea have been reportedly considering a move for the Brighton boss ahead of the next campaign.

De Zerbi To Continue at Brighton?

Despite the stiff competition for the former Shakhtar Donetsk manager, he might still end up staying at the Amex Stadium.

According to the Athletic, Brighton are increasingly optimistic that they can keep De Zerbi in charge for at least another season. The mood at the club has shifted toward the Italian manager staying beyond the summer.

De Zerbi, who has two years left on his current Brighton deal, has not ruled out a summer switch in his recent interviews. According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a £12-13 million release clause in the 44-year-old’s contract that can only be activated this summer.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich Look Elsewhere

De Zerbi’s name has been consistently reported among the managerial targets at both Bayern Munich and Liverpool. However, he doesn’t seem to be topping either club’s list.

Liverpool have been intensifying their efforts to reach an agreement with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim in recent weeks. The Portuguese manager is reportedly available for £8.5 million, which is significantly cheaper than De Zerbi’s release clause.

Bayern, on the other hand, have edged closer toward re-hiring Julian Nagelsmann as Tuchel’s successor. According to Christian Falk, a return to Bayern for Nagelsmann “is imaginable.”
