Now the football season is over, the transfer season begins. Liverpool have a lot of work to do and they are determined to get it done early.

After failing to address the midfield last summer, the Reds have given themselves a bigger task to fix what is breaking. Potentially, up to three midfielders could be walking through the Anfield door in the upcoming window.

Plenty of names have already been linked with a move to the Merseyside club, one being Nice star Khephren Thuram, the son of French legend Lilian Thuram and brother of Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram.

The 22-year-old recently was voted in the Ligue 1 team of the year after an impressive season individually, despite his club failing to reach European football.

A player that can drive from midfield is exactly what Jurgen Klopp’s men have been missing, is this why Thuram is high up on his priorities?

Negotiations Begin

According to reliable French journalist Hugo Delom for L’Equipe, via GFFN, Liverpool have opened negotiations for the Nice powerhouse. The report also claims that the club are indeed looking to sign two box-to-box midfielders whose strong attributes are physicality and transitional play.

Khephren Thuram is a tall, powerful, and intelligent midfielder that seems to tick every box Jurgen Klopp loves in a player. After speaking to journalist Jacque Talbot, LFC Transfer Room can reveal that Jurgen Klopp is pushing for this deal, being a huge admirer of the Frenchman.

Alongside Alexis Mac Allister, this transfer in particular is the closest to being an official deal in place, however, earlier reports suggest that the club are looking to bring in three centre-midfielders.

Is this the perfect start to the most important transfer window in recent years for Liverpool?

Transfer Room Verdict

L’Equipe are reliable and so is Jacque Talbot with recent Liverpool news, so this one has legs.

Thuram would be the perfect addition to a midfield that lacks everything he possesses. Fits Klopp’s midfield mould and would slot in just beautifully.

If Thuram is signed, the spine of Liverpool will be tall and powerful. Definitely a transfer to be excited about.
