Among the 10 summer signings that AC Milan made, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has certainly been among the most impactful with his goals.

As Il Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) writes this morning, the English midfielder – who arrived from Chelsea in the summer for less than €20m – is even the Rossoneri’s top scorer in the new year.

Stefano Pioli, in today’s game against Empoli, is expected to rotate the attack a bit by giving Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic some playing time, but Loftus-Cheek will keep his spot as the attacking midfielder.

From January to today he has amassed seven goals in 12 appearances, impressive numbers for a midfielder. After solving a groin problem that held him back in his first three months at the club, Loftus-Cheek has become essential for Pioli’s Milan.

The former Chelsea man is two goals away from his personal best in a single season. In fact, in the year with Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea he reached 10 goals, and the rate that he is going at this year suggests it is a case of when not if.

In 2024, Loftus-Cheek has scored more goals than Oliver Giroud, Jovic and Rafael Leão, so in short he is scoring more than a forward. Since Pioli uses him higher and closer to Giroud, RLC has become a real bomber.
