Stefano Pioli’s future with AC Milan hangs in the balance and with the summer approaching fast, the Rossoneri are evaluating the situation. According to a report, they have also looked around for other managers, meeting Julen Lopetegui twice.

Lopetegui has been linked with Milan in the past, having been without a job since August 2023, and it seems that the links are heating up. Following Milan’s defeat against Roma, in the presence of Gerry Cardinale in the stands, the uncertain position of Pioli has once again been highlighted.

According to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Goal, Milan certainly have their eyes on Lopetegui and have sounded out the Spanish manager twice already. In other words, the interest is concrete and it’s not merely a suggestion for the post-Pioli era.

Having said that, there is currently no proposal on the table as the Rossoneri are yet to make a final decision on Pioli. This will be made at the end of the season, but as highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, it could become clear already at the end of this month.

Lopetegui has an international philosophy and he has worked well with young players in the past, which is something that Milan appreciate. The first contracts took place two months ago and it remains to be seen if they will heat up in the coming weeks.
