Roma striker Romelu Lukaku is still not training with the rest of the Giallorissi first-team set-up in the build up to Sunday evening’s Serie A clash against Sassuolo.

The Belgium international was absent for Roma’s 1-0 loss to Brighton in the Europa League round of 16 second leg on Thursday night, but he had been on the scoresheet during the 4-0 win in the home leg at the Stadio Olimpico the week prior.

Sky Sport Italia initially reported earlier in the week that Lukaku was not injured, but that he was suffering with an inflammation issue in his hip, which is why he did not travel to England for the Brighton game on Thursday.

The hip problem has seemingly not yet fixed itself, so Lukaku is now heading towards another rest for the Sassuolo game on Sunday, multiple outlets in Italy including Sky and Gianluca Di Marzio are reporting.

Lukaku is currently Roma’s leading goalscorer across all competitions, having registered 17 goals from 34 matches from games in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and Europa League.

He was replaced by Sardar Azmoun in Daniele De Rossi’s starting line-up against Brighton last night.
