Romelu Lukaku is happy with Daniele De Rossi’s Roma and would be willing to stay ahead of his return to Chelsea in the summer.

The 30-year-old Belgian striker joined the Giallorossi last summer on a season-long loan deal with no buy option attached, giving him out a route out of West London after a summer filled with controversy. He was initially expected to return to Inter before his talks with Juventus caused everything to collapse.

Lukaku has proven himself a useful figure at Roma this term, netting 18 goals across 35 matches. He was recently asked if he’d like to stay in the Italian capital, and he was coy in his response, laughing as he quipped ‘I don’t want to cause controversy in England. I have to be intelligent about this’.

Corriere dello Sport via TMW details how Lukaku has started to grow increasingly happy under De Rossi at Roma and is now seriously thinking about staying in the Italian capital beyond this season.

The 30-year-old will return to Chelsea at the end of the season, meaning the two clubs will need to reach a new agreement in the summer. He would cost around €37m, a high fee considering the Giallorossi owners are looking to reduce overall costs at the club.
