Luton Town midfielder Andros Townsend has surprisingly compared Manchester United and Liverpool.

The newly promoted Premier League club lost narrowly to United at Old Trafford before the international break.

They also drew 1-1 with Liverpool, giving Townsend a comparison between the two Northern clubs.

Extremely difficult. They are difficult," he told BBC Radio 5 Live when asked about playing United.

We were able to defend against them well but similar to Liverpool they just find a way."

Honestly, it was an extremely tough game," he continued.

There was rotation all over the pitch. We were well-drilled and confident as we had just got a point against Liverpool the week before, we had a game plan to press high up the pitch and force turnovers, United didn't really give us anything."
