Manchester City confirmed Premier League champions after Manchester United's loss to Leicester City

Manchester City fell to Chelsea on Saturday and missed out on the opportunity to clinch the 2020-21 Premier League title.

That slip-up merely delayed the inevitable.

Second-place Manchester United lost at home to Leicester City 2-1 on Monday and remain 10 points behind their Manchester rivals with three games left to play. Thus, City have been confirmed champions and return to the English top-flight mountaintop after Liverpool won the title last June.

This is City's fifth Premier League reign and their third title in four years under manager Pep Guardiola.

The blue moon may have only begun to rest comfortably in the Manchester sky. City toppled Tottenham Hotspur to claim the Carabao Cup on April 25 and now will look to win the UEFA Champions League for the first time when they face fellow Premier League side Chelsea in the final on May 29.

City lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinal round on April 17.

Earlier in the day, Sky Sports reported the upcoming all-English Champions League final is more likely to be moved to Portugal than England after travel restrictions made holding the match in Istanbul, Turkey too difficult.
