Manchester City secures Premier League title with furious comeback against Aston Villa

Manchester City are Premier League champions again after a dramatic, come-from-behind victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.

City entered the final day of the season one point ahead of Liverpool on the Premier League table and needed a win to guarantee the title. Aston Villa threatened clinching win when it took a 2-0 lead deep into the second half Sunday. But City climbed back with three goals in a frantic five-minute span to secure the win it needed.

Ilkay Gundogan started the comeback with a goal in the 76th minute to give City hope. Just two minutes later, Rodri leveled the score with a goal in the 78th minute.

Three minutes later, Gundogan scored his second goal of the match to give City the lead it desperately needed.

Liverpool beat Wolves 3-1 to put the pressure on City, but finished the season second. Both teams earned spots in the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League along with third- and fourth-place finishers, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
