Manchester City went into the first international break since the World Cup off the back of a fine performance against top of the Championship Burnley as they progressed through the semi-finals of the FA Cup yet again.

Pep Guardiola's side demolished Vincent Kompany's Burnley 6-0 and Erling Haaland got himself yet another hat-trick yet again showing just how good he is in his first season in English football.

The goals were the 22-year-olds 42nd of the season and we are still only in March.

Therefore the striker was looking to travel with his good form with his nation Norway l into the euro 2024 qualifiers.

However Haaland has had to withdraw from the Norwegian squad due to a groin injury that he picked up against Burnley.

Norway will be one of the favourites to qualify for the tournament in their group as it consists of Cyprus, Georgia, Scotland and Spain so Haaland would not have want to pass up on the opportunity to give his country a strong start to the qualification process which will be a worry for City as the injury could be serious.

However it is viewed as precautionary and the club will carry out further tests on the striker to see if he will be fit to face Liverpool in a couple of weeks time.
