Manchester City’s Norwegian wonderkid Oscar Bobb showed why the club let Cole Palmer leave for Chelsea in the summer. The sale of Cole Palmer has been questioned of late due to his exceptional form for Chelsea. But Oscar Bobb reminded everyone of why the champions let Palmer leave with his match-winning moment in City’s 3-2 win over Newcastle at St.James Park.

The Norwegian wonderkid has shown snippets of his quality this season. He has made his presence known in the Manchester City first-team as he grows into his role. While he was mainly picking up minutes with games already won earlier in the season now he is having an impact whether it’s off the bench or as a starter.

Bobb scored his first goal for Manchester City during their 3-2 Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade. That game was essentially a dead rubber with the European champions having already secured top spot of their group and qualification to the knockout stage of the competition. It was a special moment for Bobb to score his first senior goal for the club. His first-ever Premier League goal was of vital importance to the champions.

In the 91st minute, Bobb got on the end of a pinpoint Kevin De Bruyne ball. The Norwegian wonderkid then showed exceptional poise and technique to round Martin Dubravka and calmly finish. It was a remarkable piece of skill by the 20-year-old. It showed exactly why he is so highly regarded at Manchester City in one snippet of play.

While Cole Palmer has done well for Chelsea Oscar Bobb is showing why the champions let him depart. The pair would have likely fought for minutes and opportunities if Palmer stayed at the club.

Bobb’s rise is becoming a big story as the season progresses and his match-winning moment against Newcastle is another example of this and shows why the club let Palmer depart for Chelsea.
