Manchester United concerned protest could disrupt Liverpool match?

Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer was one English Premier League personality who apologized for his club's involvement in the abandoned European Super League deemed controversial due to its similarities to aspects of American sports, particularly its lack of promotion and relegation.

Per Rob Dawson of ESPN, that apology did not prevent a group of protestors from breaking into United's training ground last week. Dawson now notes things could get worse ahead of and possibly during Sunday's clash between rivals United and Liverpool.

According to the ESPN story, roughly 10,000 supporters are expected to participate in an anti-Glazer protest outside Old Trafford ahead of the Liverpool contest, and it's feared some may attempt to block team buses or find a different way to force the game's postponement. United have increased security around the stadium for Sunday's fixture.

"It's important that the fans' views are listened to and we communicate better," United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said of the protest and the anger felt by fans despite the club's departure from the planned Super League. "My job is to focus on the football side and that we have the best possible team.

"As I've said before I've been backed, I've had great support from the club and the owners, and I'm sure I will get the backing again to go one step further. When the protests are on, it's important they go in a good fashion and that we keep it peaceful."

United are second in the league table on 67 points, while Liverpool are sixth with 54 points.
