There was a feeling in the stands at Wembley, with the scoreline 3-0, that Erik ten Hag would give some of the youngsters a run.

Manchester United are on the verge of reaching a new academy milestone, with graduate No.250 waiting in the wings. It is statistics like this that fill fans with the utmost pride.

However, it was a blessing in disguise for those youngsters that they weren’t thrown into the deep end, even though a number of the academy prospects were seen warming up on the touchline at Wembley.

According to the Daily Mail, there is growing optimism that one of the youngsters recently seen on the bench during games could make his debut in the next two games, with a clash against Sheffield United followed by Burnley.

That includes players like Harry Amass, Ethan Wheatley, Louis Jackson or Habeeb Ogunneye.

Meanwhile, United’s U18s won the Premier League Cup final against rivals Man City on Tuesday night.

Adam Lawrence’s side are now looking to achieve a league and cup double, after winning the Premier League North division a week ago.
