Among Manchester United’s list of priorities this summer will be finding a dominant centre-back to partner Lisandro Martinez.

Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane will be out of contract at the end of the season, and there’s uncertainty about the futures of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

West Ham attempted to sign Maguire last summer and it is believed that they could try again when the transfer window opens.

The Mirror suggests Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has been installed as the number one centre-back target at Old Trafford.

However, links to Juventus and Brazil ace Gleison Bremer are going nowhere.

Mason Greenwood to be used in deal to sign Brazilian defender

The 27-year-old Juventus defender has a release clause worth roughly €60m – but it doesn’t activate until the summer of 2025, as per Fabrizio Romano.

CalcioMercato ran a report to state talks between United and Juve have begun. The latest from Gazzetta dello Sport suggests Mason Greenwood could be included in a deal to help lower the cost.

It would make sense to offer Greenwood in such a deal if Juventus are interested in the forward, who is currently enjoying life on loan at Getafe in Spain.

Getafe have made it clear that they want to sign Greenwood permanently, though it remains to be seen if they will be able to meet United’s asking price.

The report states that an exchange deal is an idea Juventus would be receptive to.

Juventus are currently positioned third in Serie A.
