Manchester United fans storm Old Trafford in protest against ownership

A group of Manchester United fans stormed Old Trafford in protest against the team owners, the Glazer family, ahead of Sunday's match against Liverpool.

About 1,000 Man United supporters gathered outside the team hotel before marching to the stadium. Fans broke the fencing around Old Trafford and moved the protest inside, where they wreaked havoc.

The protests are a result of supporters growing increasingly frustrated with the Glazer family after Man United's failed attempt to form and join the breakaway European Super League.

United owner Joel Glazer was named the European Super League's vice-chairman when it was announced several weeks ago. He later apologized to fans in a letter after withdrawing from the league.

The Glazer family purchased United in 2005. They also own the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This isn't the first group of protests against a Premier League owner in recent weeks. Arsenal supporters protested against owner Stan Kroenke after his club was also set to join the failed European Super League.
