Manchester United host last-placed Sheffield United in a midweek Premier League clash at Old Trafford this Wednesday, April 24. The Red Devils sealed their place in the FA Cup final with a fortuitous penalty shootout win over Championship outfit Coventry City on Sunday. Here is your Manchester United predicted lineup for the home match against Chris Wilder’s Blades.

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Sheffield United

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

Manchester United have lined up in a 4-2-3-1 for most of the season, with goalkeeper André Onana playing all but one game.

Diogo Dalot is the regular starting right-back, with two of Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Willy Kambwala, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof at centre-back depending on availability. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been at left-back in recent games.

Despite playing at centre-half against Coventry due to the ongoing injury crisis, Casemiro has been a mainstay in midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo, with Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford in front of them. Rasmus Hojlund is the main man up front.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

The Red Devils were incredibly fortunate to beat Championship side Coventry City in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final, the Sky Blues coming back from 3-0 down to implausibly force extra-time amid yet another United collapse. Before last weekend, Erik ten Hag’s side had won just once in five games in all competitions.

With an ever-changing backline due to injuries and a chaotic playing style, Ten Hag’s men have conceded more shots than any other team in Europe this campaign, an indictment of the team’s inability to keep possession and dominate in games.

Due to an inconsistent press and a lack of willingness of forward players to track back, the midfield is often left to cover too much ground as the opposition attacks wide-open spaces, all too frequently given a free run at the injury-hit rearguard.

Manchester United Injuries To Consider

Manchester United’s injury list currently stands at an incredible 14 players, with long-term absentees Tyrell Malacia (Knee), Anthony Martial (Groin) and Luke Shaw (Thigh) all out until at least early May.

Lisandro Martinez (Calf) and Victor Lindelof (Thigh) are also out until early May, with Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane expected back slighter sooner with muscle injuries.

Rashford (Ankle) and Scott McTominay (Groin) are strong doubts for Wednesday’s game, along with Sofyan Ambrat (Knock) and Kambwala (Undisclosed). Mason Mount is also out of contention.

Fernandes (Hand) and Garnacho (Muscle) are minor doubts, but deemed more likely to feature than the players above.
