Manchester United star out 2-3 weeks with muscle injury

Manchester United will be without star striker Rasmus Hojlund for 2-3 weeks due to a muscle injury, with the club confirming the news via its official X account on Friday morning.

Manchester United’s first outing without Hojlund will be a Premier League game against Fulham on Saturday and the injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the 21-year-old Hojlund, who many consider the future of Denmark’s men’s national team.

Hojlund left Atalanta for a deal worth up to $91.2 million with Manchester United in July 2023. He went scoreless in his first 14 games but has caught fire recently with seven goals in his last six games, including six consecutive games with a goal against Premier League competition.

More importantly, Manchester United has turned a corner and has five wins in the last six games with one draw, including Sunday’s 2-1 win over Luton Town in which Hojlund scored both goals. Manchester United is unbeaten in their last seven games across all competition.

If Hojlund is out for the full three weeks, it could spell disaster for his club. Manchester United plays a FA Cup fifth-round game against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday followed by marquee Premier League games at Manchester City on March 3 and against Everton at Old Trafford on March 9.

Manchester United has been hit hard by injuries in 2024. Defender Luke Shaw hurt his hamstring in the win over Luton and could be out for three months and defender Lisandro Martinez hurt his knee in a 3-0 win over West Ham on Feb. 5 and could be out for two months.
