Sweden’s U21 national team drew 1-1 away against Italy in the qualifiers for the European Championships in 2023 on Tuesday.

The Sweden Football Association has now announced that Manchester United youngster Anthony Elanga, who played the full match, was subjected to a racist comment from an opponent in the Italian team, as per Svt.se.

An oral report has been submitted to the referees and match delegates, with the Swedish Football Federation waiting for feedback through a match report and referee report.

All they can do now is tell their version of what happened and hope that the authorities in question find the right punishment for whoever is in question. As Marcus Rashford said earlier this week, there is never a time for racism, and football must stand together and act on that.

After the final whistle, however, a small quarrel broke out between the players of Sweden and Italy. The referee had to keep a distraught looking Elanga aside from the Italians.

Nobody should be exposed to racism.
