Marcos Antonio has not yet managed to show off his skills following his summer arrival at Lazio but he’s desperate to impress Maurizio Sarri.

The 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer transfer window in a deal worth around €9m, being brought in as the long-term replacement for Lucas Leiva. Since his arrival, he’s only played 138 minutes out of a possible 810, remaining mostly on the bench.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Sarri appreciates Marcos Antonio’s technical skills but is convinced that the midfield needs to be at the right level to allow the 22-year-old to shine.

He’s been working hard at Formello during this international break and is hoping to make a bigger impact in the coming weeks, not wanting to remain sidelined for the rest of the season. Sarri is keeping a close eye on Marcos Antonio and is waiting for the right time to deploy him, but he may have to wait a little longer yet.
