Chelsea have four players back from injury ahead of their Premier League game against Manchester United. Mauricio Pochettino is still far from having a full squad at his disposal. However, the Blues are set to play the final weeks of the campaign with a few key readditions to their squad.

Four Chelsea Players Back in Team Training

An Injury-Ridden Season

Pochettino has had an underwhelming debut season at Stamford Bridge by nearly all metrics. The Blues are stranded in the 12th spot on the Premier League table, winning 11 of their 28 matches.

Those who believe the team should keep the Argentine manager beyond this summer often point to the fact that he has spent most of the campaign without a number of his key players.

Long-term injuries, including those of Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Christopher Nkunku, have prevented the coach from building a solid foundation for his Chelsea lineup. It’s too late for the 52-year-old manager to salvage his first season at the club. However, he’s set to have more players available for selection in the final weeks of the season.

Latest Injury Update from Stamford Bridge

On Wednesday, the club confirmed that Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, Malo Gusto, and Robert Sanchez have returned to team training. Ben Chilwell, however, missed the session due to illness.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference before his side’s match against Manchester United, Pochettino stated that both Gusto and Chalobah are back in the matchday squad. Sanchez and Chukwuemeka are expected to make their comebacks against Sheffield United over the weekend.

Chelsea Injury List

Despite the positive updates, Pochettino still has a number of key players on the sidelines.

Fofana and Romeo Lavia are expected to miss the rest of the season with knee and thigh injuries, respectively. James, Nkunku, and Lesley Ugochukwu are all in a race against time to come back by the end of the term

Levi Colwill, however, is close to rejoining the team training. According to Evening Standard, his toe problem is expected to be resolved before Chelsea’s match against Everton on April 15.
