Milan will look to add three or four quality additions to their squad during the summer transfer window, but the Rossoneri could be forced into parting ways with one of their most valuable players if a suitable offer comes in, as it did for Sandro Tonali last year.

Milan’s 2023-24 season has been neither disastrous nor particularly outstanding, but in order to compete for titles in 2024-25, the club will look to bring in a set of new faces, particularly in attack.

The Rossoneri have two specific names in mind for the centre-forward position. Those are Bologna‘s Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig according to information from La Gazzetta dello Sport

Aged 22 and 20 respectively, both Zirzkee and Sesko have time on their side and have already proven themselves capable in front of goal.

The pair also boast similar numbers in terms of goals per 90, as Zirkzee’s nine goals from 24 Serie A appearances this term equates to 0.375 goals per game, while Sesko’s Bundesliga record of six goals from 19 appearances equates to 0.315.

The issue is that both will likely end up costing Milan upwards of €40m each, as per La Gazzetta. That is also before any other additions are considered, and Milan would reportedly like to bring in a couple of defenders as well.

As a reference, Milan’s most expensive signings last summer were Christian Pulisic, Samuel Chukwueze and Yunus Musah, all of whom cost around the €20m mark.

Though some high-earners, such as 37-year-old Olivier Giroud and 34-year-old Simon Kjaer could be moved on upon the expiry of their contracts at the end of this season, which would free up space on the wage bill, Milan may still need to raise funds through player sales.

That means, according to Gazzetta, that if an offer similar to the one from Newcastke for Sandro Tonali last summer arrives for any one of Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez or Rafael Leao, the Rossoneri could be forced into considering it seriously.
