The chances of AC Milan keeping a young midfielder are rising but it seems a defender is very much on his way out, according to a report.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the future of Tommaso Pogeba – who played for Spezia last season on loan – could still be at Milan. Spezia would like him back for another season but Pobega is climbing positions in the hierarchy of head coach Stefano Pioli.

The midfielder is doing everything he can to stay in the squad for the Rossoneri next season, and a possible sale could only take place in the event that the Rossoneri management secure the signing of another natural holding midfielder before the window closes.

Meanwhile, Mattia Caldara has also returned to Milanello this summer after Atalanta decided not to use their option to buy. Newly promoted Venezia are big admirers and in the coming days there could be news about a possible loan.
