It might not exactly be at the forefront of the players’ minds when they take to the field tomorrow, but AC Milan have a chance to exact some revenge on Hellas Verona after 50 years.

Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about ‘Fatal Verona’ and the rivalry with Milan. It was back in 1973 that Milan lost 5-3 at the Stadio MarcAntonio Bentegodi and essentially surrendered the Scudetto.

It was then repeated in 1990 with another damaging defeat at the hands of Verona, but now that bitter feeling can be returned, because the Gialloblu will arrive at San Siro in danger of being relegated.

Verona must better the result of Spezia or they will be relegated to Serie B, with the Ligurian side away at Roma. Back in 2018 Verona were relegated to the second tier by Milan, though that came with two games left on the fixture list meaning defeat tomorrow would arguably be more painful.
