Bologna are planning to purchase Alexis Saelemaekers from Milan this summer after his impressive season on loan.

The 24-year-old Belgian forward never managed to prove a particularly convincing figure during his three years in the Rossoneri first team, prompting them to ship him off to the Rossoblu on loan last summer, giving him the chance to rediscover his confidence.

The Milan loanee has exceeded expectations under Thiago Motta this term, scoring three goals and providing three assists across 25 league games, standing out in the fluid attacking system on show at Bologna.

Saelemaekers convinces Bologna

Page 23 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Bologna have no doubts regarding the future of Saelemaekers, ready to activate his €9.5m buy option to permanently sign him from Milan in the summer.

In the meantime, the Rossoblu are hoping to convince Thiago Motta to stay for next season and have started planning out a new contract for the talented tactician.
