AC Milan could let Danish defender Simon Kjaer leave the club at the end of the season as they want to replace him with Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan), the Rossoneri are growing more and more unlikely to offer Kjaer a new contract.

Whilst the focus is on renewal talks with French duo Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud, Kjaer is also awaiting a conversation given he is out of contract at the end of this season.

Rather than keep an injury-prone defender at the club, Milan may take the opportunity to bring some younger energy into the defensive department, in the shape of Buongiorno from Torino.

He is a 1999-born player so he is certainly not inexperienced, but he could be a part of the defence for many years to come given he is 10 years younger than Kjaer. He has had a superb season with the Granata and was the focus of attention in the January transfer window.

An injury and Torino’s unwillingness to sell in the winter meant that he stayed put, but Milan and other clubs will be trying to reignite their interest before the summer transfer window gets underway.
