Olivier Giroud has decided to join LAFC for next season and he will thus say goodbye to AC Milan in the summer. As the Rossoneri were open to a contract renewal, the Frenchman’s decision has now opened up a spot for Luka Jovic.

Jovic joined Milan on deadline day in the summer of 2023 and after a very tough start, he has found the back of the net eight times for the Rossoneri. He averages a goal every 122 minutes, which is certainly good, and it remains to be seen if he will get more chances in the coming weeks.

The competition is currently fierce in the No.9 role, with Noah Okafor doing well there too, but Jovic doesn’t need to worry too much about the future. According to today’s edition of Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, Milan are ‘one step away’ from renewing his contract.

There is a clause for a one-year extension in the current deal and the Rossoneri appear willing to exercise this. It’s also possible that new terms could be negotiated with Jovic’s entourage, but it seems almost certain that he will remain at the club now.

Certainly, Milan will not be able to find any cheaper players, at least none with the qualities of the Serbian striker.
