One of the more interesting narratives from tonight’s game between AC Milan and Spurs is that two deputy goalkeepers in Ciprian Tatarusanu and Fraser Forster will be between the posts.

Today’s La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about the battle of the 12th men, starting with Forster who has already actually played against Milan when he was with Celtic, in the Champions League group stage in 2013-14 when he conceded three goals at home and two away.

He was 24 years old then and has gained a lot more experience since. Spurs signed him in the summer after around 150 appearances for Southampton, and in 2019 he beat Lazio twice in the group stage of the Europa League.

This year he has played five games and in his last outing on Saturday against Leicester City he conceded four goals. Now, he repeats arduous task of replacing Hugo Lloris in front of nearly 80,000 at San Siro.

Tatarusanu has been Milan’s starting goalkeeper for some time now, since the beginning of October in fact due because of Mike Maignan’s, but unlike last year he has made some mistakes.

He has played 21 matches and conceded 31 goals so far this season, while in his European career he has played 70 games, three of these against Tottenham: two draws and one defeat between 2015 and 2016 with Fiorentina.
