Rafael Leao was booed by Milan fans when he was substituted in a home Serie A game against Genoa and went straight into the locker room, while ultras left San Siro ten minutes before the final whistle.

Rafael Leao was booed by Milan fans during a home Serie A game against Genoa on Sunday and looked so disappointed that he didn’t even return to the bench, going straight into the tunnel instead.

Milan ultras irritate Rafael Leao

The Portuguese star was subbed off by Stefano Pioli at minute 67 and walked off by the goal, not towards the touchline.

As reported by several Italian media, including Antonio Vitiello on X, formerly Twitter, Leao went straight inside the locker room.

Leao had already been booed by Milan fans in April, during a 1-0 loss to Roma in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals. The 24-year-old didn’t take it well and raged at a journalist in the mixed zone after the match.

Milan ultras leave San Siro 10 minutes before end of Genoa game

Boos for Leao came in an agitated atmosphere as Milan ultras in Curva Sud had remained silent for the whole match demanding a clear strategy from the club ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window.

Ultras also left the Curva Sud 10 minutes from the final whistle and left one banner that read: ‘The sound of silence.’
