Liverpool hero Jan Molby believes his club are set for downward period when Jurgen Klopp leaves.

Klopp has announced he is leaving at the end of the season.

Molby told Bold: "I might doubt that a little. Liverpool will of course still be Liverpool and there has been some sort of rebuilding this summer and he may feel the club is at a level where he can leave it to others.

"There is a new squad with young players, but can they be as good without Jrgen Klopp, even if there are good coaches out there?

"Klopp is unique and senses things better than others, so there is quite a bit of pressure on the next one. So it will be difficult, and I would immediately say that it will be almost impossible."

On Klopp's successor, the Dane continued: "There really isn't one I'm hoping for. The vast majority of Liverpool fans are probably hoping for Xabi Alonso, who is in Leverkusen and doing great.

"That is probably what makes the most sense, and he has a big star in Liverpool, because he has been at the club and was a skilled, skilled footballer. I don't know if it should be him, but if you look at a list, I don't think there are very many exciting names.

"Liverpool must have a project manager who must be able to be at the club for a longer period of time, where you can build things up and build up teams several times.

"That's why I think that you can rule out the normal names like Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, and whoever else there is.

"Roberto De Zerbi in Brighton is of course also an exciting man, but I think that many Liverpool fans more or less trust the decisions that are made. They are probably just looking forward to a name being put forward."
