Monza coach Raffaele Palladino admits that replacing the goals of Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto will be tough.

Speaking in a press conference after the Brianzoli’s 3-0 loss to Atalanta, as reported by FCInterNews, Palladino noted that the 24-year-old’s loss will be a significant one for his team to cope with during the course of this season.

Wingback Augusto earned a move to Inter this summer.

The Brazilian joined the Nerazzurri to take the place of Robin Gosens. He replaces the German as backup and competition for Frederico Dimarco on Inter’s left flank.

It is not hard to see why Inter saw Augusto as an ideal replacement for Gosens.

Last season, Augusto was one of the outstanding players in a Monza team who climbed to an impressive midtable finish in their first season in Serie A in the club’s history.

The 24-year-old scored six goals for the Brianzoli. In addition, he chipped in with a further five assists.

Clearly, Augusto’s attacking potency down the flank was a key factor for Monza.

Monza Coach Palladino Admits Augusto A Loss After Inter Transfer

Inter are a team who use their wingbacks as one of their main attacking outlets under coach Simone Inzaghi.

Therefore, it is natural that they’d go after a player with Augusto’s profile.

But by the token, Monza are also very reliant on attacking contributions from wide areas.

Therefore, losing a player who had chipped in as Augusto had has the potential to seriously hamper the Lombard team’s effort as they aim to build on a successful first season in Serie A.

“Having lost Carlos Augusto, it’s tricky to find those goals elsewhere,” Palladino admitted.

“But we’ll try to do so anyway,” he continued.

“It’s my job to get the team into the best condition to implement our ideas going forward.”
