According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Genoa and Italy star Mateo Retegui is a candidate to replace Victor Osimhen at Napoli next season.

Napoli have set their sights on Italy international Retegui, who is seen as a potential replacement for Nigeria star Osimhen, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Napoli linked with Genoa and Italy striker Retegui

Retegui joined Genoa from Tigre for €14.5m last summer and has netted eight goals in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.

Napoli are expected to reshuffle their attacking department in 2024-25. Osimhen has a release clause of €120-€130m and has been targeted by PSG and some Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal. At the same time, Giovanni Simeone is unhappy with his lack of playing time and could reunite with Igor Tudor at Lazio next season.

Napoli are reportedly interested in Retegui but have also targeted Lille striker Jonathan David. Reports in Italy last week claimed the Partenopei had already reached a verbal agreement with the Canada international.
