Napoli midfielder Eljif Elmas is undergoing medical tests with Bundesliga side Leipzig ahead of a €25m move.

The North Macedonia international is set to leave the Stadio Maradona on a permanent transfer, as President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed on Friday.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Elmas has already arrived in Germany to undergo medical examinations with his new club.

The 24-year-old will sign a long-term deal with Leipzig, reports Romano.

Napoli visit José Mourinho’s Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday night, but Elmas is not available.

De Laurentiis has said the North Macedonia international wanted more playing time, so Napoli decided to sell him.

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is among Napoli’s targets to replace Elmas. Juventus are also interested in the Dane, but Spurs are not expected to loan out the 28-year-old unless the deal comes with an obligation to buy.

Elmas joined Napoli from Fenerbahce in 2019 for €16m. He has scored 19 goals in 189 appearances with the Partenopei.
