Following their respective eliminations from the Champions League, Inter and Napoli locked horns at the Giuseppe Meazza in the battle of the wounded. Inter had the upper hand in the first half and it was eventually illustrated by Matteo Darmian’s smooth opener. The Nerazzurri could have added more after the interval, but it was Juan Jesus who nodded home a late equalizer to end the hosts’ domestic winning streak. Alex Meret – 7
A fabulous display from the Italy international who pulled off some wonderful stops to keep his side in the match, including a jaw-dropping double save in the first half.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 6
The Napoli captain started on a slow note but grew as the minutes progressed. Stood his ground against Federico Dimarco and Tajon Buchanan, but wasn’t always on cue in possession.
Amir Rrahmani – 7
A solid display at the back from the Kosovan who managed to limit the threat of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, which is never an easy task.
Juan Jesus – 8
The former Inter defender has a night to remember on his return to San Siro. Pulled off a string of decisive blocks and interceptions to keep the Partenopei alive, and ultimately secured a valuable point when presented with a free header at the far post.
Mathias Olivera – 5.5
An uneventful outing from the Uruguayan who offered little support on the left flank, but made some decent defensive interventions.
André-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 5.5
It wasn’t the Cameroonian’s prettiest display. At times struggled to cope with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s skillset while also giving away possession cheaply on a few occasions.
Stanislav Lobotka – 5.5
The Slovakian couldn’t assert his dominance in the middle of the park. Found himself in the opposition’s penalty box on a couple of occasions but was unable to properly deal with the situation, instead relinquished the ball without much of a fight.
Hamed Junior Traoré – 6
The former Sassuolo man was one of the most dynamic Napoli players before leaving the pitch in the 70th minute. Drove the ball forward on several occasions and found some success in the dribbling, but was at times a bit too selfish.
Matteo Politano – 6
The Italian winger was perhaps guilty of failing to track Alessandro Bastoni on the opener. But he kept working extremely hard, covering almost every inch of the ground until the 90th minute.
Giacomo Raspadori – 5.5
The Euro 2020 winner expectedly struggled in the physical duel against the big Inter defenders while acting as a striker. Won a few challenges but the lack of service didn’t help his case.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – 5.5
The Georgian found difficulties in getting past Matteo Darmian. He only managed to forge a single shot which hardly troubled Yann Sommer.
Substitutes
Jens Cajuste – 5.5
The Swede didn’t offer the same attack threat as Traoré but instead did the dirty work in midfield.
Mario Rui – 5.5
The Portuguese veteran stood his ground at the back, but like Olivera, didn’t offer anything in attack.
Giovanni Simone – 6
The Argentine saw little of the ball, but Napoli piled the pressure on Inter in the final third following his introduction, which culminated in the equalizer.
