Napoli could hand superstar winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia a new contract similar to the one Victor Osimhen penned in December. According to La Repubblica (via CN24), the reigning Serie A champions are desperate to fend off foreign suitors for their quicksilver forward.

Despite enduring a disappointing season by his high standards, Kvaratskhelia remains one of Partenopei’s most prized assets. Alongside Osimhen, he’s arguably the most valuable player on the Napoli roster. Therefore, Aurelio De Laurentiis doesn’t want to take any chances.

With the summer transfer window around the corner, Napoli are working around the clock to tie the Georgia international down to a new deal. Kvaratskhelia’s current contract runs out in 2027. But the club would like him to pen a new one so they can insert a substantial release clause, like in Osimhen’s case.

Aware of growing interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid, Napoli are keen to put the 23-year-old beyond the Spaniards’ reach. But despite all the media hype, it’s uncertain whether their ambition to take the ex-Dinamo Batumi man to La Liga has subsided amid his underwhelming campaign.

Kvaratskhelia had a dismal start to the season, but his form has improved as the season progressed. After netting four times in his last three league appearances, he has taken his seasonal tally for Serie A to ten goals. On top of that, he boasts five assists, making him the most prolific Napoli player in 2023/24.

As such, the club’s desire to lure him to sign a new deal is no surprise.
