Napoli striker Giovanni Simeone has come onto the radar of Inter Milan as a possible replacement if Alexis Sanchez leaves.

Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInterNews, claim that the Chilean is edging towards the exit door. Were he to depart, the Nerazzurri will look to Simeone as his replacement.

Having completed the signing of Tajon Buchanan from Club Brugge, the next order of business at Inter this month could be reinforcing the attack.

The questions have lingered regarding the quality of Inter’s backup options in attack.

Marko Aranutovic and Alexis Sanchez are both 34 years of age.

And apart from a positive flash here or there, neither have demonstrated the ability to impact matches positively on a consistent basis.

This has meant that Inter could be overly reliant on starting duo Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram over the second half of the season.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri could look to bolster the attack.

Giovanni Simeone Linked With Inter As Alexis Sanchez Replacement

However, given the financial situation at Inter, it seems clear that one of Sanchez or Arnautovic would have to leave in order for the Nerazzurri to sign a different striker to replace them.

But RAI claim that Sanchez could actually leave during the January transfer window.

And if the former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona veteran were to be on his way, the Nerazzurri have a name in mind to replace him.

Argentine international Simeone is currently a Napoli player. He joined the Partenopei in 2022.

The 28-year-old has also played for the likes of Genoa, Cagliari, and Hellas Verona in Serie A.

But Simeone could leave the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in the next few weeks, according to RAI.

The Argentine is one of the profiles Inter consider ideal to take the place of Sanchez.

Meanwhile, RAI also claim that Inter are ready to go back in for versatile Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez.
