AC Milan are experiencing a good moment on the pitch having won eight of their first nine league games, but they are also thinking of the future away from the field.
According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), owners Elliott Management have a very specific plan for Milan that has actually become a mission: to bring the club back to an elite level in Europe. If at first it seemed as though the Singer family acquired the club merely because of their loan to Yonghong Li, it now appears as though they are devoted to the project at Milan.
That is why American will continue to invest, starting with the stadium project for which Milan and Inter have allocated a joint €1.2billion. Moreover there will be money made available for transfers as the club are looking for new talents such as Lorenzo Lucca of Pisa and Romain Faivre of Brest, both of whom are January targets.
Renewals are also a part of their plans, with Stefano Pioli’s to be done soon while talks over Franck Kessie and Alessio Romagnoli will continue. Now though a more proactive approach has been taken hence why negotiations are on over extending Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao’s deals.
Elliott are willing to double the salaries of these three players, and while it will be necessary to see if it will be enough to satisfy them, it is a statement of intent.
