Neymar signs extension with Paris Saint-Germain worth $30 million per year

Neymar will remain with Paris Saint-Germain for at least the next several years. The Brazilian soccer star extended his contract with The Parisians until June 2025, the club announced Saturday

According to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano, the deal is worth $30 million per season after taxes. Neymar's previous deal was set to expire at the end of next season.

Neymar has been very successful since joining PSG from Barcelona in 2017. The 29-year-old has 85 goals and 51 assists in 112 games and has also helped the club win nine trophies.

Despite several ups and downs, including injuries and suspensions, Neymar said in a statement that he's "very happy" with PSG.

"I have changed a lot. I have learned a lot," Neymar said in a statement. "Things have happened that should not have happened. We had fights, a few sad times, but overall, the evolution has been very positive. I am happy, I am proud to be part of the history of Paris Saint-Germain."

With Neymar locked up, the club can now work on extending homegrown star Kylian Mbappe, who said in January that he is thinking about what he wants to do in the coming years and where he wants to be.

PSG is currently second in Ligue 1 with a 24-3-8 record. The Parisians are four points behind league-leading Lille.
