Burnley, who currently sit 18th in the Premier League table, are looking to boost their squad before the transfer deadline. The Clarets have made a bid for Leeds United player Crysencio Summerville, but it was turned down. According to Fabrizio Romano , it looks like there is “no chance” he will join Vincent Kompany’s club.

Burnley See Bid for Crysencio Summerville Turned Down by Leeds United

Hefty Fee Offered

The Italian journalist stated that Burnley’s offer totalled £20 million. Summerville joined Leeds in 2020 following his academy years in Feyenoord and two loan spells to other Eredivisie outfits. £20 million was not enough to sway the Whites, who “rejected the offer out of hand.”

Things do not look good for the Claret’s pursuit of Summerville. Daniel Farke and the rest of the club value him much more than the offer they received. Without an improved bid, the former European U17 champion could end up staying at Elland Road at least until the Winter window.

Why Summerville Is So Coveted

The Dutchman has shown the skill and patience needed to be successful in arguably the toughest footballing league system in the world. In his first two seasons, the attacker made only nine competitive appearances for Leeds, but instead of being discouraged, he waited for his time.

Last campaign, despite them getting relegated from the English top flight, he had an impressive campaign. Described as “dominant” during his time in Holland, the 21-year-old finds himself wanted back in the Premier League by Burnley.

Leeds United Season Outlook

Farke’s squad are 13th in the Championship with one win, two draws and one loss. That is not where supporters had hoped to be after four matches, but there is some reason to believe their fortunes will improve. A Carabao Cup loss to Salford City means that there are fewer distractions from the all-important league play.

In addition to the cup loss, Leeds’ next opponent is last-placed Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls have lost all four of their contests this campaign. Winning on Saturday by a substantial amount would boost morale at Elland Road. Meanwhile, should Summerville stay then Farke will be able to utilize one of his top players.
