Former AC Milan full-back Massimo Oddo has revealed that he is ‘in love’ with Sandro Tonali for the way that he manages to cope with pressure.

There is no doubting that Tonali has shown a clear and strong development after some initial struggles following his summer 2020 arrival from Brescia. The Italy international found it difficult to adapt to a double pivot in his debut campaign, and also perhaps found it a tough adjustment to go from a side that ended up being relegated to one that ended up fighting for the title for most of the season.

Milan are enjoying the new, improved and confident Tonali as his performances continue to go from strength to strength, so much so that he appears to have a starting spot in the important games as seen on Wednesday night in the win over Atletico Madrid.

Oddo spoke to Milan TV about Tonali and was asked for his opinions on the young Italian, and he could hardly have been more complimentary of his development.

“I am in love with this boy, I like the way he deals with situations. He has grown a lot, I like how he reacted after a difficult year like last year,” he said (via MilanNews).

“For me he is becoming very strong. He has an incredible speed. He is certainly one for the future, destined to grow because he has the right mindset. Two years ago he impressed me in the Coppa Italia with Brescia, it was the first time I saw him live, but I saw him static. He has improved a lot in dynamism, also thanks to Pioli’s playing philosophy.”
