As the days of the transfer window go on, reports linking players with Liverpool are getting stronger. However, since the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, nothing is yet to materialise.

Top of the list of players being reported with the Reds are French duo Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone, and Dutch youngster Ryan Gravenberch. With midfield being a priority this summer, Liverpool could yet bring in two more, adding to Mac Allister.

In recent weeks, the links to Khephren Thuram have increased, with many French reporters stating that talks have already begun between both sides.

The Frenchman is currently playing for his country’s u21 side in the Euros, who have won both of their opening group matches.

As he continues to impress on the field, his future is being spoken about off the field, with more reports coming to light today.

Better Offer Needed

According to French sports media platform Sports Zone, via Get Football, OGC Nice intend to keep their star for another year, and only a very good offer would make them consider a sale, which is why Liverpool failed with the first attempt.  Nice-Matin reported the midfielder would cost a minimum of €40m (£34m).

The report also claims that the Merseyside club do want to act after U21 Euros ends and that an agreement with the player is close to being found.

However, the player and his father, former French international Lilian Thuram do not want to talk about transfers during the tournament.

Liverpool’s tight restraints in recent windows have affected their ability to get deals done and it seems to be the case once more. The Reds target Thuram but have yet to offer Nice the fee that will have them re-think.

Will Liverpool get this deal done or will they pull out again due to the price?

Transfer Room Verdict

With the amount reporting the links with Khephren Thuram, there’s certainly belief from my end that Liverpool are interested. When it’s one journalist, then it’s easier to sweep aside, however, this is a few.

It will always be the same with the Reds. They attract the best of the best from around the world and no matter how much the player would love the love or Klopp pushes, it will always be down to the transaction.

We either pay up or we shut up. No more of this ‘next summer’ or ‘we didn’t want him anyway.’ I’m done with it.
