Olympique Marseille held a new round of talks with Hellas Verona as they work to agree a deal for Scottish left back Josh Doig.

The defender joined the Gialloblu from Hibs in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth around €3.6m and quickly stood out in the Veneto capital, scoring two goals and providing four assists in 35 matches across all competitions.

Verona set a €6m asking price on Doig this month, figures Torino were not willing to match, allowing Marseille to insert themselves in the race. The Ligue 1 outfit drew up a €5m proposal for the Scottish full back.

As reported by TMW, Marseille met with Verona in previous days to continue negotiations for Doig, who could make the switch to south France should add-ons increase the offer a little.

The 21-year-old left back has not made his first cap for the Scotland national team yet and the move to Gennaro Gattuso’s Marseille could give him the launching pad needed to carve out an international career.
