Real Madrid fear goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could miss BOTH legs of their Champions League quarterfinal against Chelsea.

Courtois could miss up to a month of action after suffering an injury on international duty, says Sport.

Courtois, 30, picked up a knock during Belgium's 3-0 win over Sweden on Friday in the opening game of their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

The Real Madrid stopper managed to play the full 90 minutes in what was the first game of the Domenico Tedesco-era as the Red Devils look to begin a new cycle following their disastrous World Cup campaign.

But Courtois left the national team camp on Sunday in a precautionary move after straining an adductor muscle, according to the Belgian FA.

Real now fear the injury could keep Courtois - who will subsequently miss Belgium's friendly with Germany on Tuesday - out for between three to four weeks.

Although Carlo Ancelotti's side are effectively out of the title race in LaLiga having gone 12 points behind Barcelona after they lost 2-1 in El Classico prior to the international break, Los Blancos face the Catalan giants in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey semi-final after losing the first leg 1-0.

Similarly, during the time period Courtois is expected to miss, Real also have both legs of their Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea - the keeper's former club.

It is the Belgian's third injury of the season and he is likely to be replaced by back-up stopper Andriy Lunin.
