Paris Saint-Germain reportedly make Neymar available for this summer

Many in the football community were shocked to learn last weekend that star forward Kylian Mbappe would be remaining with Paris Saint-Germain despite his many links to Real Madrid over the past couple of years.

Mbappe's decision could lead to one noteworthy change to the squad before next season.

ESPN's Julien Laurens reports that Paris Saint-Germain have made Neymar available for a summer transfer. The Brazilian superstar initially joined the Parisians from Barcelona in 2017 via a reported world-record fee of €222 million and put pen to paper on an extension last year that is set to keep him attached to his current employer through the 2024-25 campaign.

However, Paris Saint-Germain still haven't won the UEFA Champions League during Neymar's tenure even though they bolstered an attack that included the 30-year-old and Mbappe by signing Lionel Messi last year. Incoming sporting director Luis Campos, who became familiar with Mbappe when both were with Monaco, allegedly wishes to use transfer funds on younger players.

Neymar's deal reportedly earns him €35 million a year, and his wages coupled with the fact that injuries have kept him out of 50% of PSG's games during his time with the club may make him difficult to sell even though Premier League side Chelsea could pursue his signature this summer. For what it's worth, Neymar has said he wants to stay in Paris for at least one more season.
