Merseyside Police have confirmed that they are investigating footage which appears to show Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira kicking a fan, reports The Sun.

Vieira was in no rush to leave the field of play as Everton supporters stormed out of the stands to celebrate their team coming from two goals down to secure their Premier League safety.

As a result, altercations with buoyant Toffees supporters were inevitable, but there was one in particular who felt it appropriate to antagonise Vieira with a camera in his face.

The former Arsenal midfield general didn’t take kindly to the fan’s behaviour and lashed out, kicking him to the floor, with the whole incident having been caught on camera.

While you imagine the FA will take action against Vieira, that could be the least of his worries. The Sun report that Merseyside Police are now looking into the incident from a criminal perspective.

Whether Vieira will face any actual punishment from the police remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say that he faces a nervous wait to discover if any firm action will be taken by the powers at be.
